Warranties and Guarantees
Beds Etc does not make any warranties, either written or implied. All warranties are between customer and manufacturer. Beds Etc will, however, be glad to assist you with any warranty questions. Please note, as stated on warranties, all costs incurred in servicing warranty issues are the responsibility of the original customer. Beds Etc only deals with recognised brands that adhere to the highest quality manufacturing standards. Therefore, every product sold by Beds Etc is backed by a manufacturer’s warranty against any defective workmanship or materials for a period determined by the manufacturer. This period will consist of a guarantee period and a warranty period. Please note that the above guarantee or warranty is not given by Beds Etc but rather by the manufacturer – it is the sole discretion of the manufacturer to back up the warranty or guarantee and Beds Etc cannot be held liable should the manufacturer not honour any such warranty or guarantee.
If a claim raised, is found to be valid within the guarantee period there will be no cost to the customer for repairing or replacing. If the claim is raised within the warranty period, a pro-rata charge will be applied and charged to the customer.
So, if you have bought a bed with a ten-year manufacturer’s warranty and a 1-year guarantee, then this means that in the first year (depending on the manufacturers terms), you will be reimbursed in full for any defective workmanship or the bed will be replaced. This is known as a guarantee. After this time has lapsed, you will be asked to pay a pro-rata cost for any repairs for the remaining years in the warranty period.
You will receive a manufacturer’s warranty and or guarantee card with your purchase or this may be on the label of the product bought. Refer to the product you have purchased for specific warranty and guarantee details as each manufacturer offers different terms for each of the products.
In the event of having to make a claim – then please send your claim in writing to: sales@bedsetc.co.za – should you not get a response within 5 working days then please call 0829641777 / 082 578 8130. Please allow for up to two weeks for evaluation of your claim which may include an inspection of your goods. You will need to keep your proof of purchase, product guarantee or warranty card in a safe place. We recommend placing it into an envelope and inserting it between your base and mattress for safe keeping. We suggest that you purchase one of our Waterproof Mattress Protectors for the manufacturer not to void any valid claim as a stained bed will automatically void the manufactures warranty and or guarantee.
Due Memory Foam not being used in mattresses any longer, should you order any of our beds online and ask for Memory foam, all warranties and guarantees shall be void. Memory foam loses its memory over a certain period, and this is normally mistaken for a manufacturer fault.
Mattress Care
Here are some simple hints on how to get the best performance from your new mattress.
- Rotate your mattress clockwise from head to toe 180 degrees. The next time rotate again head to toe as indicated. Remember to rotate your mattress every 2 weeks for the first 3 months and thereafter, every 2 months.
- Body impressions are a perfectly normal occurrence in your new mattress and should not be confused with sagging. The layers of upholstery are designed to compress with use and will compress first in the areas you have slept on. These are more noticeable in the morning. Body impressions are not a structural defect but merely an indication that your new mattress is adjusting to your individual shape.
- Your new mattress might have one sleeping surface, which means that you will probably never have to flip the mattress – this is called a non turn mattress. This type of mattress has upholstery padding which increases its longevity and support performance. Do not attempt to sleep on the non-sleep surface of the mattress, as it is not made for that purpose.
- Handles, if fitted, should only be used to position the mattress, as they may pull out if used to support the full mass of the mattress.
- Carry your mattress flat or on its side. It is easier to handle, and you will be less likely to damage the mattress. If you have bought a pocket spring mattress, then please note that this mattress needs to be always stored flat and when moving needs to be carried and transported flat as the individual pocket springs may shift if not, always kept flat.
- Keep your bedding clean or otherwise the manufacturer may waiver the guarantee and warranty. We suggest using a mattress protector and occasionally vacuuming your mattress (excessive vacuuming will damage the filling and fibres contained in the upholstery layers in the mattress).
- Give your new mattress time to “air” upon removal from its plastic packaging. Dispose of all plastic packaging as soon as possible and for safety’s sake, do not leave near children.
- We recommend replacing the base when purchasing a new mattress. An old base may not provide sufficient support. It may appear that your new mattress is sagging when it is really the base, which supports the entire mattress.
- Give yourself time to adjust to the new feel and support of your new mattress, like a new pair of shoes it may take a few days to wearin and become comfortable.
- Do not stand or jump on your mattress. It was not built for that kind of weight concentration or abuse.
- Do not bend your mattress as this may cause damage to the internal structure of your mattress. Rather flex than bend the mattress when going through doorways and do not bend the corners when putting on fitted sheets.
- Do not remove the label on your mattress – this serves as a means of identification to establish your warranty period and rights.
